Features
Everything in DirectoryPoint 1.0
Find anyone fast, get to know colleagues, keep your go-to people by skill, find the right AI agent or person for a task, and keep profiles in good order, in SharePoint, Microsoft Teams and Viva Connections.
Find anyone fast
Search that works the way people remember names.
- Forgiving search
- Results as you type that forgive typos and spelling variants: "Kathryn" finds Catherine, O'Neill and Smith-Jones match with or without the punctuation.
- Nicknames
- A built-in nickname list, so "Bill" finds William and "Liz" finds Elizabeth.
- Email, phone and other names
- Paste an email address or part of a phone number and go straight to the person. Other names people add, such as a previous surname, find them too.
- Phrases become filters
- Type "Power BI in Leeds" and DirectoryPoint turns it into a skill and an office filter.
- From the keyboard
- Ctrl+K or "/" jumps to search from anywhere; recent searches are one key away.
- Browse your way
- Grid, list and card layouts with A to Z, and filters for department, office, job title, skill, language, employee type and new joiners, plus any extra fields an admin maps.
- External contacts
- Contractors, suppliers and partners a site owner adds appear beside your staff with an External badge, shown to the audience the site owner chooses. They are never in the org chart, celebrations, headcount or the export of people.
Profiles worth opening
A bento-style profile with everything you need to reach someone.
- Contact in one tap
- Teams chat and call, email and phone on every host: SharePoint, and Teams on a computer and on phones, with fallbacks where a host does not support an action.
- Skills and "Ask me about"
- Skills people list themselves, with a level (learning, practitioner or go-to person), where each came from and when it was last confirmed.
- About you
- How to say the person's name as a spelling and, if they choose, a recording of a few seconds that plays only when someone presses Play; pronouns exactly as they typed them, never asked for, guessed, searched or filtered; how they like to work; the languages they speak.
- Manager and team
- The person's manager and team at a glance, with a link to their place in the org chart.
- Photos and presence
- Photos cached on the device for speed, with initials for anyone without a photo. Availability for the people on screen with the optional Presence add-on.
- Links into a profile
- A link with a person's ID, from a Viva Connections card or another app, opens their profile on the DirectoryPoint page, only for someone the directory would show it to.
Discover decks
A private, playful way to get to know colleagues.
- Swipe or click
- Swipe right to save, left to skip, up to open the profile. Every gesture also has a visible button, a keyboard key and undo.
- Decks that matter
- New joiners, your department, your office, a skill or everyone; the people you'll work with (your manager, reports and peers), people with the same skills as you, new in your office, people who speak a language, and people to ask about a topic. An empty deck says so plainly.
- Private and one-way
- Nobody is ever notified. Saving someone only adds them to your own favourites.
- Calm by design
- Vertical scrolling is never hijacked on phones, and a gentle crossfade replaces the motion when your device asks for less.
Who's Who
A quick game for putting names to colleagues.
- Clues from the directory
- A photo, job title, department, office, skills or "Ask me about", with four names to choose from. A detail someone hides is never a clue.
- Scores for knowing, not speed
- A right answer scores 3, a wrong one loses 1 and a skip scores nothing, so blind guessing gains nothing; answers given in under two seconds, or faster than 12 a minute, score nothing.
- An opt-in scoreboard
- Join to appear on the site's scoreboard, and leave at any time: your row is removed at once. Anyone who can open the site can read the scoreboard. It is a friendly game, not a record.
- Practice with fictional people
- In the Demo directory every game is practice and nothing is saved. Site owners have switches for Who's Who in Settings.
Favourites and collections
Your go-to people, organised by what they know.
- Grouped by skill automatically
- A saved person appears under each of their skills, so "who do I know in Power BI" is one tap.
- "My go-to for" pins
- Pin someone as your go-to for a topic, such as contracts or payroll.
- Collections
- Your own lists for projects, committees or anything else, private to you and to the site owners who manage the site.
- Smart collections
- Save conditions, such as a skill, department, office, language or "Ask me about" topic, and the collection lists whoever meets them each time you open it, as you can see them.
- Shared collections
- Share a collection with up to 50 named colleagues: they find it under "Shared with you" the next time they open DirectoryPoint, and nobody is notified. A shared copy is not private: anyone who can open the site can read it in SharePoint.
- A tidy skills list
- A starter list of skills with synonyms ("PowerBI" becomes Power BI) that admins can extend. People can hide a skill from others.
Kudos for a skill
Say thank you for what someone knows, with no leaderboard.
- Tied to a skill
- Choose one of the person's skills and write a short message. People turn kudos on for themselves.
- Sealed until accepted
- A kudos waiting for its recipient is encrypted in the browser for the two of you, so other colleagues see only that a sealed item exists. Site owners can read the keys that open it, and the Kudos page says so.
- Accept, decline or withdraw
- An accepted kudos shows on the profile under that skill, with the sender's name and message, until the recipient removes it. Declining is private: the sender is never told. A sender can withdraw a kudos they sent.
- No counts, no notifications
- Nobody is notified, emailed or messaged, and kudos are never counted or ranked across people. Turning kudos off removes your keys.

Agents beside people
One search by task finds the agent and the people who can help.
- A curated agents list
- Site owners add the AI agents your organisation uses, by hand or from a CSV file. Off until a site owner turns it on.
- Tagged by task
- Agents share the same task and skill list as people, so "book leave" finds the leave agent and the HR team together.
- Opens from your link
- Open agent uses the link you stored, and says which website it opens.
- Honest labels
- Agents carry an Agent badge and "may need a licence" where one applies. Agent accounts in Microsoft Entra are badged and left out of headcount, the org chart and celebrations.
- A shared registry
- A site owner can keep the agents list and its task terms on one other site of the same SharePoint host, shared with other Apps 365 Point apps.
Org chart, offices and departments
See where anyone fits, in any size of tenant.
- Chain, peers and reports
- The manager chain above, peers beside and every direct report below, not only the first 20.
- A tree for keyboards and screen readers
- The List view is an accessible tree, also used on narrow screens.
- Gaps handled
- People without a manager appear in an Unassigned group, and nobody appears as their own report.
- Office and department pages
- A page for each office and department, listing its people, with an office's local time from the time zone site owners set: never guessed from anyone's location.
- For Microsoft 365 Business too
- It works in any tenant with SharePoint Online, including Business plans.
Celebrations
Welcome new joiners, and mark the days people choose to share.
- New joiners by default
- People who have just started, from their start date in Microsoft 365.
- Opt-in birthdays and anniversaries
- Only for people who choose to share them, with the day and month only. No birth year is stored anywhere.
- Withdraw any time
- Turning it off removes the person from Celebrations at once and clears the date.
Viva Connections cards
DirectoryPoint on your Viva Connections dashboard.
- Four cards
- Find someone (with a search box), Your favourites by skill, New joiners and Celebrations today: four Adaptive Card Extensions in the same package.
- The same directory
- The cards follow the web part's own rules: who is listed, the details people and admins hide, and only opted-in celebrations. People show as initials.
- Opens the directory
- Choosing a person opens their profile on the DirectoryPoint page, and only on the same SharePoint host as the DirectoryPoint site.
- Nothing extra to approve
- The cards use the same read-only permissions as the web part, when they are approved, and nothing more.

Data health and change requests
Find the gaps in profiles, and put them right through IT.
- Data health
- Site owners see listed profiles missing a photo, manager, job title, department or phone, disabled or missing managers, circular manager chains and duplicate names. Nothing it finds is saved, and a detail hidden from the site owner looking is not checked.
- Your own checklist
- Each person sees a checklist for their own profile only.
- Change requests
- You, your manager or a site owner can suggest a correction. Site owners approve or reject it, and approved corrections go to IT as a summary naming the exact field and value; for an account synced from on-premises Active Directory the summary says to change it there.
- Never changes your directory
- DirectoryPoint does not change Microsoft Entra ID or any directory, and requests no permission that could.
- Every decision audited
- Each decision is recorded in an audit list only site owners can read. A request changed after its decision is held back until a site owner decides it again.
- Routing by department
- Site owners can be named for each department to order the queue.
Large organisations
Chosen automatically by the size of your directory.
- Live, up to 2,000 people
- Smaller directories are read live each time DirectoryPoint opens.
- A copy on each device, 2,000 to 30,000 people
- On the Standard tier each person's browser keeps its own copy of the directory they can read, brought up to date from Microsoft Graph's list of changes on each visit and read again in full after seven days.
- A published snapshot, at any size
- A site owner can publish the directory as colleagues see it (no hidden details, no mobile numbers without the person's opt-in) to a library on the site, then refresh or remove it. DirectoryPoint says when it is more than seven days old.
- Search-first mode
- For organisations that hide people from the address list or use information barriers: the directory starts from Microsoft 365 people search, which leaves those people out. It needs the People.Read permission.
- One person's copies, one device
- When someone else opens DirectoryPoint in the same browser, the previous person's copy, recent searches and deck history are removed. Settings, Directory size and snapshot clears a device's copies.
For site owners and admins
Control who is listed and what is shown, with a record of what changed.
- Set-up wizard
- Creates DirectoryPoint's lists on the site in about a minute and names the tier you are on; Site health repairs and updates them later.
- Who is listed
- Enabled members with a licence by default; guests, rooms, shared mailboxes and disabled accounts left out; rules by sign-in name, domain, employee type or Entra group (where group membership can be read); an option to include frontline staff without a licence.
- Field mapping
- Show extra Microsoft Entra attributes as profile fields and filters, with no code and no wait.
- Privacy defaults
- Mobile numbers hidden unless each person opts in, fields admins or each person can hide, and a reminder that hiding is not a lock: anyone who can read a list can read its rows.
- Audited export
- Excel or CSV built in the browser, leaving hidden fields out, with each export recorded. External contacts have their own CSV import and export.
- Usage counts
- Daily totals for the whole organisation, such as searches made and profiles opened, with no names, IDs or search words; numbers under 5 show as "Fewer than 5". On by default, and a site owner can switch counting off. Anyone who can add to the site's lists can change a count, so the numbers are a guide, not a record.
- More settings
- Office time zones, Who's Who, change request routing, directory size and snapshot, search-first mode and the shared agents registry.
- Trust pack
- A permissions table, a data-flow description, a legitimate interests assessment template and privacy notice text you can adapt for your staff.
