What is new in DirectoryPoint

What each release adds, newest first.

  1. On Microsoft Marketplace

    DirectoryPoint 1.0.0

The first release of the people-and-agents directory for SharePoint, Microsoft Teams and Viva Connections.

    Find

    • Instant search that forgives typos, knows nicknames and searches email and phone numbers; phrases become filters; Ctrl+K and "/"
    • Other names people add ("also known as", such as a previous surname) and languages are searchable
    • Grid, list and card layouts with A to Z, filters, and extra fields an admin maps
    • External contacts (contractors, suppliers and partners) beside your staff with an External badge, for the audience a site owner chooses

    Profiles

    • Bento profiles with Teams chat and call, email, skills, "Ask me about", manager and team
    • About you: how to say your name, with an optional short recording ("Say my name"), pronouns as you type them, how you like to work and your languages
    • Accepted kudos under the skill they were given for

    Getting to know colleagues

    • The private Discover decks: save, skip and open by swipe, button or key, with undo; decks of new joiners, your department or office, a skill, everyone, the people you'll work with, the same skills as you, new in your office, a language and an "Ask me about" topic
    • Who's Who: a quiz with clues from the directory, scoring that rewards knowing over guessing, and an opt-in scoreboard you can leave at any time
    • Kudos for a skill, sealed for the two people until accepted, with no notifications, counts or rankings
    • Office and department pages, with an office's local time from the time zone site owners set
    • Celebrations: new joiners, plus opt-in birthdays and anniversaries with the day and month only

    Favourites and collections

    • Favourites grouped by skill, "my go-to for" pins and private collections; a skills list with synonyms and levels
    • Smart collections that list whoever meets saved conditions
    • Shared collections for named colleagues, with nobody notified and the copies readable by anyone who can open the site (said in the app)

    Agents and the org chart

    • Agents beside people: a curated agents list, CSV import, tasks shared with skills, stored launch links and "may need a licence"
    • A shared agents registry on another site of the same SharePoint host
    • A focused org chart with every direct report and an accessible tree view

    Data you can check

    • Data health for site owners: profiles missing a photo, manager, job title, department or phone, circular manager chains and duplicate names, and a checklist for each person's own profile
    • Change requests: people suggest corrections, site owners approve them for IT with every decision audited; DirectoryPoint never changes your directory

    Large organisations

    • Chosen by size: live up to about 2,000 people, a copy on each device from 2,000 to 30,000 on the Standard tier, and a snapshot a site owner publishes at any size
    • Search-first mode for organisations that hide people from the address list or use information barriers

    Site owners

    • Settings: who is listed, field mapping, privacy defaults, an audited export, office time zones and Who's Who switches; a trust pack for your data protection review
    • Daily usage totals with no names, IDs or search words, on by default, with a switch to turn counting off

    Where it runs

    • A SharePoint web part, a SharePoint full-page app, a Microsoft Teams tab and a Microsoft Teams personal app; light, dark and high contrast themes
    • Four Viva Connections dashboard cards: Find someone, Your favourites, New joiners and Celebrations today

    Permissions and licence

    • Works with no Microsoft Graph permission (Basic); read-only User.Read.All for Standard; optional Presence.Read.All and People.Read
    • A 14-day evaluation of every feature from set-up, with no key
